Bequests
To: Mary Baldwin (Wife)
I give to my wife Mary Baldwin my messuage and garden on the south side of the Market Place in Henley until her death. Then, together with other property it is to go into a trust held by Ambrose Hill, Gent[leman] of Henley, and Thomas Flight, mealman of Henley, and their heirs. It is to be held in trust for Richard Baldwin's grandson, John Corderoy until he reaches 22 years of age. Should he die then it is to go to his legitimate male heirs and, failing male heirs, to his female heirs. Should John Corderoy die without children then the property goes to the heirs of Mary Baldwin. Mary Baldwin is to pay for the education, maintenance and apprenticeship of John Corderoy from the rents and profits of this property and the other properties. Should she die before John Corderoy then the trust fund is to pay these charges similarly.

See will TNA PROB 11/662. Mary Baldwyn, widow, of Henley on Thames. It is likely that she was Richard Baldwin's widow but she does not give details of the property she is leaving. She also calls Thomas Flight "my nephew". The register recording this will shows Richard Baldwin as a Maltster but the will is silent as to his occupation.
