I give to my wife Catherine Mellet my two Leasehold Cottages in Northfield End for her lifetime if she shall continue a Widow sole and unmarried, and from her death or remarriage I give these cottages to my children John Mellet, Elizabeth Warren, William Mellet, Sarah Mellet, Jane Mellet, Thomas Mellet, Christian Mellet and Ann Mellet for the remainder of the lease in equal shares.

0001: In the Name of God Amen I John Mellet of
0002: Northfield End in the Parish of Henley upon Thames in the County of
0003: Oxford Blacksmith being ill and weak in body but of sound and disposing
0004: Mind Memory and understanding do make publish and declare my last Will
0005: and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) First I commend
0006: my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God who gave it and my Body I commit
0007: to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter
0008: named and as to the worldly Estate and Effects wherewith it hath pleased
0009: Almighty God to bless me I dispose thereof as follows First I give and
0010: bequeath unto my loving Wife Catherine Mellet All those my two Leasehold
0011: Cottages with the Gardens and Appurtenances thereunto belonging situate in
0012: Northfield End aforesaid To hold the same unto my said Wife for and
0013: during the Term of her natural life if she shall so long continue a Widow sole
0014: and unmarried and my Estate therein shall so long continue and from and
0015: immediately after the decease or marrying again of my said Wife Then I give
0016: and bequeath the said cottages with the Appurtenances unto my Children John

0018: Mellet Christian Mellet and Ann Mellet To hold the same unto my said
0019: Children their Executors Administrators and Assigns for and during all the residue

0021: again of my said Wife shall be to come and unexpired equally to be
0022: divided amongst them share and share alike All the Rest Residue and
0023: Remainder of my Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what
0024: nature or kind so ever I give and bequeath the same unto my said

In addition to the probate clause, the will had the following text appended: 'May 2d 1794 Catherine Mellet Widow the Relict and Samuel Warren the Executors in this Will named were sworn to the truth thereof as usual and also that the Effects are under Three Hundred Pounds.
